With the layered sounds of a softened brushed snare; a series of melodic beeps; and a clear, echoing vocal part curtesy of Vilja Larjosto; ambient IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) artist Lusine created a song with a hook you'll hum for days a music video that will help with trig and geometry homework. The chill atmosphere the song creates is the perfect study music, then enhanced by it's unique music video. The video is the music with a four minute geometry class in the background. Triangles, coordinate planes, similarities, trig functions--it's all in Lusine's video to convey a concept completely different from the pythagorean theorem and radians. The lyrics of "Two Dots" describe a relationship in turmoil, seen particularly through the triangles and line segments used in the music video. The two dots are people in a relationship (a line). However, the relationship may become stressed and broken, or stretched into a love triangle. The cheating the triangle signifies is, as the lyrics say, irresponsible. It's similar to cheating on a test. The lyrics are below. My Dad showed me this song when I was studying for my trig test a couple days ago. The video, surprisingly, helped clear up some points I missed in class and the ambient sounds helped me focus on studying. With "Two Dots," I got a new and awesome song to add to my iPod and I didn't fail the test. Mathematical, cool, pertinent to relationships, and a good study song-what more can one want from a song?
